This project will use the traditional silver gelatin process to observe illness, aging, and transitions. The body becomes empowered through self-observation, recording, and sharing with a community. Using techniques I have developed over my 30 years of practice, the poetry of the darkroom unfolds through the use of toning, burning and melting negatives, and test trip collage. The project is as much about the concept of revealing the body to attain objectivity as it is about the display of traditional silver gelatin prints, in all their imperfect uniqueness.
